PESHAWAR: Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Chief Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman has appealed to the traders of the country to make successful the nationwide strike announced by the JI against inflated electricity bills and unprecedented taxes.

He said this while addressing a press conference along with the party provincial leadership, here on Friday.

The successful strike would cover long journey and play very vital role in resolving the issues being confronted by the traders and masses of the country, he maintained.

He said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was contributing a major share in generating cheap electricity in Pakistan.

He demanded that the landlords of the country be taxed, adding that a public contact drive was being launched from September 1.

The JI chief welcomed the Supreme Court verdict regarding Mubarak Sani case, adding that the chief justice of Pakistan omitted the controversial paragraphs after listening the Ulema’s point of view.

The Hafiz condemned the attack on police party in Rahim Yar Khan on August 22 and expressed his sorrow and sympathy with grieved families of the martyred cops.

He observed that Katcha (riverine) areas were under the rule of allies in Punjab and Sindh. He questioned that from where the robbers got weapons and ammunitions and what security agencies were doing, adding that whether they had only one job of monitoring the politician.

The JI chief said the mayhem of Rahim Yar Khan happened due to the negligence of IGs of Punjab and Sindh. He lamented that the condition of the law and order and economy is further spoiling with the passage of time.
