Rain, wind, and thunderstorms with isolated heavy downpours are expected in Peshawar and various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday night and Monday, with occasional breaks in between.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal are affecting most parts of Pakistan, accompanied by a westerly wave over the northern regions.
As a result, rain and thunderstorms are anticipated in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Butgram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Swabi, Nowshera, Mardan, Malakand, Peshawar, Kohat, Mohmand, Khyber, Bajaur, Charsadda, Hangu, Karam, Orakzai, Waziristan, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, and Dera Ismail Khan on Sunday night and Monday. Isolated heavy rainfall may also occur in Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Dir, Swat, Swabi, Nowshera, Mardan, Peshawar, and Bajaur during this period.
These heavy rains could lead to flash flooding in local streams and nullahs in areas like Mansehra, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Nowshera, and Swabi. Downpours might also cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Peshawar and other cities across the province. Landslides may pose a risk to traffic in vulnerable hilly regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In Peshawar, the maximum temperature is expected to range between 35-37°C on Monday and Tuesday.
Additionally, parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa experienced rain with isolated heavy downpours over the past 24 hours.
