The new Gwadar International Airport is scheduled to begin operations on August 14, with final preparations now completed. According to Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) sources, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to oversee the soft launch of this major project.
The inaugural flight to land at Gwadar International Airport will be a special Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight from Karachi. This cutting-edge airport, with an estimated cost of Rs54.98 billion, features runways built to international standards, capable of accommodating large aircraft like the Airbus A380.
As a key element of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the Gwadar International Airport showcases the collaboration between the Civil Aviation Authority and China in its construction. This development represents a significant milestone in enhancing connectivity and infrastructure in the region.
