Three more retired army officers detained for violating military discipline

RAWALPINDI: Three more retired Pakistan army officers have been taken into custody for violating military discipline, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The military’s public relations wing revealed that these retired officers were detained in connection with court-martial proceedings involving former ISI chief, Lt. General (retired) Faiz Hameed.

The ISPR stated, “Further investigations into certain retired officers and their associates, who are accused of inciting instability in collaboration with vested political interests, are ongoing.”

Sources have disclosed the identities of the three detained officers, including two brigadiers and a colonel. The arrested officers were identified as Brigadier Ghaffar and Brigadier Naeem. It is alleged that they acted as intermediaries.

The three officers were reportedly involved in coordinating between a political party and Lt. Gen. (retired) Faiz Hameed, with both brigadiers allegedly being close associates of Hameed, hailing from Chakwal.

Earlier, on August 13, former ISI chief Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed was also taken into military custody, as confirmed by the ISPR.

The Pakistan Army’s media wing indicated that court-martial proceedings have been initiated against the former director general of ISI, Faiz Hameed.

The ISPR explained that following the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, a thorough inquiry was conducted by the Pakistan Army to verify the complaints against Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed (Retd) in the Top City Case.

Consequently, disciplinary action has been initiated against him under the provisions of the Pakistan Army Act.
