Intermittent monsoon rains with isolated heavy downpours are expected in Lahore and various parts of Punjab on Tuesday night and Wednesday.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal are penetrating the eastern and upper regions of Pakistan, while a westerly wave trough persists over the northern areas of the country.

Under these conditions, monsoon rains are anticipated on Tuesday night in areas including Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Okara, Kasur, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Khanpur, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, Rajanpur, and Rahim Yar Khan. Heavy rainfall may occur in Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Mandi Bahaudin, Jhelum, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, and Hafizabad.

Further intermittent monsoon rains are expected on Wednesday in Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Okara, Kasur, Khushab, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Bhakkar, and Dera Ghazi Khan. Heavy rainfall may continue in Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Mandi Bahaudin, Jhelum, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, and Hafizabad.

The maximum temperature in Lahore is expected to range between 33-35°C on Wednesday and 34-36°C on Thursday.

Meanwhile, rain, accompanied by wind and thunderstorms, occurred in a few places in northeast and south Punjab over the past 24 hours.

Attock, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan and Sargodha remained the hottest places in Punjab where the maximum temperature was recorded at 39°C. Maximum temperature in Multan was recorded at 38°C.

In Lahore, maximum temperature was recorded at 36°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 63 per cent.
