ISLAMABAD:  All efforts of the government and the Opposition have failed to persuade Chief of Balochistan National Party-M (BNP-M) Sardar Akhtar Mengal to take back his resignation from the National Assembly.

It is pertinent to mention here that Akhtar Mengal on Sept 3 resigned from National Assembly in protest against the government’s failure to resolve the issue of Balochistan.

A government delegation led Rana Sanaullah met Mengal at the Parliament Lodges to convince him to withdraw his resignation from the NA but the Sardar refused to take back his resign immediately.

Rana Sanaullah assured the BNP-M chief of placing his reservations before the prime minister.

Mengal complained that the Baloch people were being pushed against the wall and they were not allowed to raise their voices against the atrocities in elected houses.

Sardar Akhtar Mengal replied that he would take the final decision after consulting his party leaders and colleagues.

Talking to the media, Advisor to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah said that Sardar Akhtar Mengal is a strong voice of Balochistan, requested him to reconsider his decision.

Sardar Akhtar Mengal told the media that the government has convinced the government and not me, currently there is no intention to withdraw the resignation.
