RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir reaffirmed the military’s dedication to defeating hostile terrorist networks and eliminating illegal activities, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday said.
During his visit to the Orakzai District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, General Munir met troops who had recently taken part in counter-terrorism operations in the Tirah Valley, as reported by the military’s media wing.
The COAS was also given a comprehensive briefing on the current security landscape, ongoing intelligence-driven counter-terrorism efforts, and the multifaceted strategies being implemented to ensure stability in the merged districts.
The army chief commended the high morale and preparedness of the troops and officers to effectively address all types of threats. He stressed that the peace achieved through great national sacrifices must be safeguarded at all costs.
“The sacrifices of martyrs strengthen our resolve to continue the fight with dedication and a spirit of selflessness,” General Munir stated.
He also recognized the crucial role played by the police and law enforcement agencies (LEAs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and affirmed that the Pakistan Army would continue to fully support these agencies, particularly in building their capacity in the newly merged districts.
According to the ISPR, General Munir expressed appreciation for the local population’s support in assisting security forces, noting that their cooperation is vital to maintaining peace in the area.
The army chief also laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada and was welcomed by the Corps Commander Peshawar.
The ISPR said that General Munir’s visit to the northwestern region highlights the Pakistan Army’s unwavering commitment to counter-terrorism efforts and the importance of collaboration between the military, law enforcement, and local communities to ensure regional security and stability.
