The Sensitive Price Index (SPI)-based inflation for the week ending September 5, 2024, saw a decrease of 0.15 percent, marking the fourth decline in the past four weeks.
According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Friday, out of 51 items, the prices of 19 items (37.25 percent) rose, 13 items (25.50 percent) fell, and 19 items (37.25 percent) remained unchanged.
Items that saw price increases during the week include onions (3.83 percent), pulse gram (1.65 percent), garlic (1.38 percent), LPG (0.9 percent), cooked daal (0.70 percent), cooked beef (0.70 percent), eggs (0.54 percent), potatoes (0.50 percent), basmati broken rice (0.34 percent), bananas (0.22 percent), pulse moong (0.17 percent), and fresh milk (0.17 percent).
On the other hand, items with price decreases include tomatoes (14.54 percent), chicken (1.55 percent), a 20 kg wheat flour bag (1.31 percent), national brand chili powder 200 gm packet (1.30 percent), high-speed diesel (1.23 percent), petrol super (0.68 percent), pulse masoor (0.59 percent), sugar (0.54 percent), pulse mash (0.49 percent), cooking oil (branded like Dalda, 5 litre tin) (0.41 percent), rice irri-6/9 (0.29 percent), mustard oil (0.08 percent), and plain bread (0.03 percent).
Year-over-year, weekly inflation rose by 14.07 percent, the lowest level in three years.
