ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Thursday issued a clarification regarding access to the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, across the country.
The PTA confirmed on its social media account that X’s services have not been restored and remain inaccessible to users in Pakistan.
Earlier, PTA’s lawyer Ahsan Imam informed the court that the authority had withdrawn its notification suspending X services in Pakistan. This statement was made in response to the Sindh High Court’s (SHC) request for the PTA’s stance on the ban. Following this, the court adjourned the hearing for two weeks.
Previously, on April 17, the SHC directed the Ministry of Interior to cancel its order suspending Twitter within one week. The ban on X had initially been imposed in February after the 2024 general elections.
