Today marks a milestone in Pakistan’s railway history with the inauguration of the Sir Syed Express, a new passenger train service linking Rawalpindi and Karachi.

The train, which departed from Rawalpindi this morning, is set to reach Karachi within 24 hours, promising passengers a blend of comfort and efficiency.

Key Features and Route

The inauguration ceremony was led by DS Railway, Nooruddin Dawar, who highlighted the train’s role in improving connectivity between major cities.

The Sir Syed Express, with its 16 coaches, will travel through important stations such as Jhelum, Gujrat, Wazirabad, Sangla Hill, Faisalabad, Khanewal, Rohri, and Hyderabad before arriving in Karachi.

Modern Amenities and Services

Operated under a public-private partnership, the Sir Syed Express aims to provide an upgraded travel experience. The train features one AC sleeper coach, three AC business coaches, and one AC standard coach, alongside eight economy coaches and a dining car.

A private company handles onboard food services, ensuring a high-quality dining experience. The train also emphasizes passenger comfort with enhanced water supply and cleanliness.

Additional amenities include free Wi-Fi throughout the journey, allowing passengers to stay connected. Tickets can be conveniently booked online through mobile applications.

With its modern features and efficient service, the Sir Syed Express is projected to generate approximately 3 billion rupees in annual revenue for Pakistan Railways, highlighting its significance in the country’s transport infrastructure.

This new service represents a significant advancement in Pakistan’s railway sector, enhancing travel options and connectivity across the nation.
