ISLAMABAD: Sources in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have termed the statement of interim Afghan spokesperson unnecessary concern and unwanted reservations on the current political situation in Pakistan.
Afghan spokesperson Abdul Qahar Balkhi wrote on X, “Tensions between the Pakistani government and political opponents have reached dangerous levels. If this trend continues, it may have negative effects on the entire region.”
The sources see the Afghan government’s statement a frivolous and out of context, adding this is tantamount to interfering in the internal affairs of Pakistan.
They observed that it would be better for Afghanistan to prioritize its governance and stability in the country instead of meddling in Pakistan’s internal matters.
The lack of provision of basic rights to the people in Afghanistan, the economic decline and the existing sanctuaries of terrorists are far more dangerous than the domestic political situation in Pakistan, they maintained.
The sources said that the Afghan government should focus on countering growing terrorism, extremist safe havens and internal repression in Afghanistan, which are far more harmful for the peace and security of the region.
The Afghan Transitional Government should focus on addressing its failures because it would benefit both its people and the region more, they urged and added that recently, 120 Afghans were arrested in Islamabad for attacking police and disturbing public order.
Before becoming spokespersons, perhaps they should make sure their own citizens are not destabilizing neighbouring countries.
