When Ms. Rehman asked about the proposed amendment whether the constitutional amendment could be passed even after October 25, she replied, “Why can’t it be adopted after the 25th of October?”
Answering to a query about the formation of a joint committee regarding the constitutional amendment, she said that different committees of the political parties are working in this connection.
Replying to another question whether all political parties would present their respective drafts in a meeting of the special committee to be presided over by PPP leader Syed Khurshid Shah being held on Friday (tomorrow), the PPP senator said tha the PPP would table its own draft whether the other parties would present their drafts or not, it depends on their choice.
About the meeting of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari with Senior Sharif, she said that Bilawal told him about the Charter of Democracy (CoD) mission of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif regarding the formation of Constitutional Court.
The PPP leader avoided answering to a question whether Nawaz Sharif has accepted the suggestion of Maulana Fazlur Rehman about exclusion of military court from the constitutional amendment.
She observed, “Frequent meetings in politics have to be held to create consensus, then the consensus is developed.”
