The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has launched ‘ePayment 2.0,’ a modernized system aimed at simplifying tax payment procedures for taxpayers throughout Pakistan.

“Aligned with the government’s vision to modernize the tax infrastructure, FBR remains committed to advancing tax administration and boosting revenue collection through cutting-edge digital solutions,” stated an FBR press release.

The FBR describes the new platform as secure, efficient, and user-friendly, allowing taxpayers to make online payments directly from their bank accounts via internet banking, ATMs, and mobile banking without needing to visit a bank in person.

“ePayment 2.0 is a significant upgrade in revenue management, covering multiple taxes such as Income Tax, Sales Tax, Federal Excise Duty, and Withholding Taxes. Previously, taxpayers had to use a separate ePayment system outside of IRIS 2.0, requiring portal switching,” FBR added.

The new system offers an integrated, improved interface within IRIS 2.0, enabling both registered and unregistered taxpayers to make quick payments through a unique Payment Slip ID (PSID).

After completing a payment, taxpayers receive a Computerized Payment Receipt (CPR) via email and SMS, providing official confirmation and easy access within the IRIS 2.0 system.

Through a secure, multi-step process, taxpayers can generate a PSID, make payments via ADC channels, and receive real-time CPRs for future reference.

The system’s PSID search feature further enhances transparency, enabling easy retrieval and verification of payment records.

This high level of automation reduces errors and delays, improving the overall tax payment experience and supporting FBR’s mission of creating a compliant, business-friendly tax environment.

The system was inaugurated by FBR Director General of IT & DT, Ms. Aisha Farooq, at PRAL Headquarters in Islamabad.
