Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has called for an emergency in the province due to worsening smog conditions. He stated that air pollution is now beyond control in many districts, leading to a rise in illnesses and hospital admissions.
The governor noted that measures like closing schools, colleges, and amusement parks have not been effective. He also mentioned that traders are resisting the early market closures at 8:00 PM.
According to him, pollution levels are especially high in Lahore and other districts. He suggested that a temporary emergency be declared to tackle the smog, emphasizing the need for all institutions to work together to control the situation.
