On Sunday, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar called for a comprehensive review of Israel’s UN membership in response to what he described as horrific atrocities in Gaza.

Speaking at the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Saudi Arabia, Dar condemned Israel’s actions in Palestine, Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq, calling them serious war crimes that threaten regional stability.

He stated that Israel’s continued aggression endangers peace in the Middle East and urged the UN and the international community to take swift action.

Dar also emphasized the need for an arms embargo on Israel and called on the UN to adopt strong measures to prevent further escalation.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast support for Palestine and praised the efforts of the Arab League and the OIC to bring peace to the region.

In his speech, Dar suggested that Arab and Islamic countries should work together more closely, proposing the appointment of a joint envoy to ensure the implementation of resolutions from recent Arab-Islamic summits.

This envoy, he said, would focus on steady diplomatic progress towards an independent Palestinian state.

Dar also thanked Saudi Arabia for hosting the new Global Coalition to Implement the Two-State Solution, calling it a key step toward Palestinian independence and a two-state solution.

He highlighted Pakistan’s ongoing humanitarian support for Palestine, noting that Pakistan has sent twelve aid shipments to Gaza since last year and provides scholarships to Palestinian students.

The OIC meeting took place just before the second Arab-Islamic Summit, set for November 11, where leaders will address the escalating Middle East crisis. Saudi Arabia has reaffirmed its commitment to diplomatic and humanitarian efforts through the OIC and Arab League to end the Israeli occupation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will attend the summit to reinforce Pakistan’s call for a ceasefire and an end to the humanitarian suffering in Gaza.
