ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather advisory for the upper parts of Pakistan, predicting cold weather with isolated rainfall and snowfall over the mountainous regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In its advisory, the NDMA urged residents to stay informed through the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert App, which provides safety guidelines. Local authorities, emergency responders, and the public have been advised to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions, particularly travelers in northern and hilly areas who may face slippery roads and reduced visibility.
Farmers have been advised to protect their crops from potential weather-related impacts. In areas affected by smog, individuals are urged to limit outdoor activities and take extra precautions during periods of low visibility.
The National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) predicts cold and dry weather, with possible smog and fog in the plains of Punjab. Cloudy weather with isolated rain is expected in the Potohar region, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, and northeastern Punjab, from December 7 to 8, 2024.
Additionally, the NDMA has forecast mainly cold weather with isolated rain and snow over the hills in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) from December 7 to 12, 2024. Cold and dry weather is expected to prevail across Sindh during the same period.
