Pakistan’s EO-1 Satellite set to launch on January 17
The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) announced on Monday that Pakistan’s Indigenous Electro-Optical (EO-1) Satellite will be launched on January 17.
The satellite will be launched from China’s Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre (JSLC), marking a major milestone in Pakistan’s space exploration and technological development.
According to SUPARCO, the EO-1 mission demonstrates the organization’s commitment to enhancing Pakistan’s space science and innovation capabilities.
This satellite, developed indigenously, will help Pakistan monitor natural resources, predict and address natural disasters, enhance food security, and promote economic growth through informed decisions and sustainable development.
SUPARCO highlighted that the EO-1 satellite will bring significant advantages across various sectors in Pakistan, including:
Agriculture: Facilitating precision farming by monitoring crops, assessing irrigation, predicting yields, and promoting food security.
Urban Development: Aiding infrastructure tracking, managing urban sprawl, and supporting city and regional planning.
Environmental Monitoring and Disaster Management: Providing updates on floods, landslides, earthquakes, deforestation, and erosion.
Natural Resource Management: Supporting conservation and extraction strategies, monitoring minerals, oil and gas, glaciers, and water resources.
