Local Mobile Production in Pakistan Reaches 31.4 Million Units in 2024
Local mobile companies in Pakistan produced 2.95 million mobile phones in December 2024, marking a 28% month-on-month (MoM) increase, according to the latest data from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
During Q4 2024, local manufacturing/assembly reached 8.79 million units, reflecting a 67% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) growth compared to 5.25 million units in Q3 2024.
For the entire year 2024, a total of 31.38 million mobile phones were manufactured/assembled locally, showing a 47% increase from 2023. This sharp rise is mainly attributed to import restrictions imposed last year.
The growth has been fueled by economic recovery, a higher share of locally assembled phones due to increased taxes on imports, and a rising population.
Of the 31.38 million units produced in 2024, 59% (18.64 million) were smartphones, while 41% (12.74 million) were 2G feature phones.
In 2024, local manufacturing/assembly met 95% of Pakistan’s mobile phone demand, a significant jump from the 5-year average (2019-2023) of 67% and the 8-year average (2016-2023) of 47%.
