QUETTA: A bomb targeted a rally led by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MPA Ali Madad Jattak, killing one person and injuring ten others, the News reported.

Police said the rally was heading to a “Victory Day” gathering to celebrate the Pakistan Army’s success against India when the attack occurred. The attackers used hand grenades and a UBGL (Under Barrel Grenade Launcher) near Munir Mengal Chowk on Sariab Road.

Both explosives detonated at the scene and injured several participants. However, the blast left MPA Ali Madad Jattak unharmed.

Rescue teams immediately took the injured to the hospital.

The Civil Hospital spokesperson said the hospital received 11 injured individuals, one of whom died during treatment. Medical staff are currently treating the remaining patients at the trauma centre.

After the blast, security personnel cordoned off the area, and bomb disposal and investigation teams began collecting evidence from the site.

The government has ordered authorities to submit a report on the attack targeting the MPA’s convoy.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti strongly condemned the incident, saying the attackers targeted not just a public leader but the peace and stability of Balochistan itself.

He added that such cowardly acts would not shake the nation’s collective resolve.

The Chief Minister further assured that the government would take strict and decisive action against anti-peace elements, expose those disturbing public order, and make an example of the enemies of the state.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari strongly condemned the grenade attack on the convoy of party leader and Balochistan Assembly member Ali Madad Jattak in Quetta.

In his statement, Bilawal thanked God for keeping Ali Madad Jattak safe during the cowardly terrorist attack and prayed for his continued protection.

Bilawal Bhutto condemned the targeting of Ali Madad Jattak’s convoy as a cowardly and clear act of terrorism. He affirmed that such actions would never shake the resolve of the Pakistan Peoples Party.

He expressed confidence that authorities would soon bring the attackers to justice.

Bilawal also directed officials to provide the best possible medical care to the injured and prayed for their swift recovery.
