
Youm-e-Tashakur being observed across Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: The Government of Pakistan has declared today (Friday) as Youm-e-Tashakur (Thanksgiving Day) to pay homage of Armed Forces for victory in operation Bunyanun Marsoos against Indian aggression.
On this significant occasion, tributes are being paid to the people of Pakistan and the Armed Forces for their unwavering courage and commitment.
The day began with special prayers and Quran recitations in mosques across the country, seeking peace, stability, and progress for the nation.
A 31-gun salute was presented in the federal capital, while 21-gun salutes were carried out in each of the provincial capitals to mark the national celebration and express gratitude for the historic triumph.
Government officials have emphasized that Youm-e-Tashakur symbolizes national unity, resilience, and the sacrifices made in the path of truth and justice.
The change of guard ceremonies were also held at the mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam in Karachi and at the mausoleum of the national poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal in Lahore this morning.
Special meetings will be held with the families of the martyrs of Operation Bunyanun Marsoos to pay tribute to them.
The floral wreaths will be laid at Yadgaar-Shuhada, and families of the martyrs from Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos will be visited to honor their sacrifices.
The main event of the day will take place at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad on , where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will be the chief guest. The Chief of Army Staff and the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee will also attend the ceremony.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced that the ceasefire between Pakistan and India has been extended until May 18. This decision came after communication through a hotline between the Director Generals of Military Operations from both countries.
In a second round of talks between Pakistan’s DGMO Major General Kashif Abdullah and India’s DGMO Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, the ceasefire was extended to May 14. In the most recent contact, it has now been further extended to May 18.
