Inflation-hit people are facing another setback as the prices of ghee and cooking oil have gone up by Rs 10 per kilogram, putting more pressure on already stretched household budgets.

Market sources say the wholesale price of ghee and cooking oil has now reached Rs 510 per kg, while the price of a 12-kg tin has also risen and is now being sold at Rs 6,124. In retail markets, consumers are now paying Rs 520 per kg for these essential items.

Cooking Oil Prices in Pakistan

The recent price increase has caused concern among both consumers and traders. With inflation already affecting daily life, households are expected to face even more difficulty managing their regular expenses.

Manufacturing companies say the hike is due to global supply chain disruptions and ongoing geopolitical tensions, which are driving up the cost of raw materials and shipping.

Economic experts have warned that if such increases continue without control, they could lead to a wider surge in the prices of other essential goods as well.
