A recent controversy between Pakistan hockey team captain Imad Shakeel Butt and the Pakistan Sports Board has been resolved after clarification over a payment of PKR 5,600.

Initially, Imad Butt declined an invitation to a special luncheon, reacting strongly to what he believed was an insulting travel allowance of just Rs. 5,600. He commented that the amount wasn’t even enough to cover toll tax. However, the Sports Board later clarified that the money was never meant as a travel reimbursement but was actually “pocket money” provided during the training camp for the Nations Cup.

According to a statement by the Pakistan Sports Board, the misunderstanding has been cleared. Imad Butt now understands the context of the payment and has agreed to attend the upcoming event.

The Sports Board has invited six top national hockey players to the luncheon, including captain Imad Shakeel Butt, Sufyan Khan, Rana Waheed, Abdullah, Muneeb Rehman, and Hannan Shahid. Other national sports heroes will also be present, including Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem and Commonwealth champion Nooh Dastgir Butt.

The event aims to honor athletes from across disciplines and recognize their contributions to Pakistani sports.
