AC North Waziristan killed in deadly attack on Bannu road

BANNU: A deadly attack on the vehicle of the Assistant Commissioner North Waziristan in Bannu has left four people dead, including the AC himself and two police officers, officials confirmed.

According to police, armed assailants targeted the vehicle near Flour Mills on Miranshah Road, seizing weapons from injured officers. Initial reports had indicated three fatalities and two injuries, but later confirmations raised the death toll to four.

Assistant Commissioner Bannu confirmed that the attackers opened fire on the vehicle, injuring two police officers and a driver, and subsequently looted weapons from the police personnel.

The incident has triggered an investigation, and security forces are searching for the perpetrators.

Assistant Commissioner Bannu also confirmed that the assailants took away the weapons from the policemen. After the attack, Assistant Commissioner Miranshah Shah Wali could not be contacted.

Earlier, Two police officers were martyred on Monday in separate terrorist attacks in Lakki Marwat and Bannu, drawing strong condemnation from national and provincial leaders.

In Lakki Marwat, a police mobile near Katukhel Adda was targeted by an explosion. Officer Alauddin was martyred, while three policemen were injured. They were taken to a nearby hospital, and the area was sealed off by law enforcement agencies.

Police said they had received information about suspicious individuals planning to attack a public gathering. When officers chased them in the Katokhel area, the attacker opened fire on the police and then detonated himself.

According to DPO Nazir Khan, Head Constable Alauddin sacrificed his life but prevented a major terrorist attack, saving many innocent people. The injured officers and Alauddin’s body were moved to DHQ Hospital Tejazai. A police team, led by the DPO, immediately reached the site and launched a search operation.
