KARACHI: As new year’s eve is around the corner, Police have forewarned the citizens against indulging in celebratory aerial firing to avoid unforeseen incidents.

According to police, cases of attempted murder and other serious offences will be registered against those who found resorting to aerial firing on New Year’s Eve, BOL News reported on Wednesday.

The DIG West Zone said that aerial firing on New Year’s Day or any other occasion can kill or maim an innocent person.

DIG West Zone Nasir Aftab while urging the masses to avoid such acts said that aerial firing is a highly nasty crime for which there is no justification.

DIG West Zone said that the people should support the efforts of the police in this warning campaign and identify such elements so that the joy of New Year does not turn into anyone’s sorrow.

Aerial firing incidents on the occasion of the New Year can be reported at the 15-helpline.

On December 3, as many as seven gangsters involved in bank robberies in Surjani Town and Docks areas were arrested by the Special Investigation Unit (SIU).

Weapons and two motorcycles were also recovered from the suspects.

The cases have been registered under the Sindh Arms Act against the accused of illegal arms export.

During the interrogation, the accused have revealed their involvement in several other street crime incidents in East, Central and West districts, including robbing people who had taken cash from banks.

The suspects have previously been arrested in a number of cases, including robberies, illegal weapons and drugs. Police said that the accused are under further investigation.
