For the first time in Pakistan’s 77-year history, citizens are experiencing the unprecedented opportunity to purchase a 20-kg bag of flour for Rs 800. Thanks to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s wheat procurement policy, the price of flour has plummeted across the province.

Just last month, in early March, a 20-kg bag of flour cost Rs 2,800. However, due to the strategic measures implemented by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the price of wheat has decreased from Rs 4,800 to Rs 3,300 to Rs 3,500 as of April 23.

In response to the decline in wheat prices, flour mill owners have slashed the price of a 20-kg bag of flour from Rs 2,800 to Rs 800 to Rs 2,000 on April 23. This significant reduction is a relief for consumers across the province.

Furthermore, the province’s 1,100 flour mills have been granted permission to procure their annual wheat requirement at market rates, ensuring a smooth supply chain without any disruptions.
