ISLAMABAD: The federal government formed a seven-member committee to begin the process of outsourcing three major airports of Pakistan including Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad.
Director General Civil Aviation Authority (DGCAA) has constituted a seven-member committee. The Bol News has obtained committee notification on outsourcing the airports.
The committee is headed by Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Officer Sameer Saeed. The committee will report to the Additional DG CAA.
The CAA Committee will formulate recommendations regarding the outsourcing of airports. The CAA Committee will provide all the information related to the airports to the Ministry of Aviation.
The Committee on Airports Outsourcing will inform the Additional DG daily. Committee CAA will be restricted to provide information related to all directorates and all airports.
The committee has written a letter to managers of all three major airports, directing them to provide data to the airport’s aviation ministry. The letter stated that the committee would also collect information from all directorate branches of three airports.
Earlier, Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) clarified that the authorities commenced the outsourcing process of the country’s airports but not privatization.
Spokesperson PCAA said in a statement that the media reports regarding the privatization of the airports are false.
The government planned to upgrade the country’s airports to the international standard to facilitate the nationals.

It added that the purpose of outsourcing airports is providing the best services to the passengers at the airports. The outsourcing process will be based on competitive auctions, the PCAA said. The government has planned to prefer friendly countries for airport outsourcing.
