Newborn triplets have tested positive for coronavirus in Mexico. Mexico has 185,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus whereas 22,584 Covid-19 patients have lost their lives.  Local health authorities say that the tests have come in an exceptional case.

Medical experts are working on knowing how the virus has been transmitted from the mother. Two of the babies, one girl, and a boy, are in good condition in San Luis Potosí State. However, the second boy is being treated for a respiratory condition.

A spokesperson for the state’s Health Safety Committee said that infectious disease in multiple births has not been identified anywhere globally. So, the case would be investigated.

State Health Secretary Mónica Liliana Rangel Martínez said: “It would be impossible for them to have been infected at the moment of birth.”

Parents are currently being tested for coronavirus. Officials say they may have been asymptomatic.
