Coffin of Queen Elizabeth’s departs from Balmoral
The coffin of THE QUEEN has departed Balmoral Castle and is currently travelling to Edinburgh, where it will remain until Tuesday so that people can pay their respects to Her Majesty.
In order to allow mourners to pay their respects while the oak coffin is being driven by a hearse, thousands of people have gathered as it makes its lengthy, six-hour journey. As Queen Elizabeth II left the castle for the last time at 10 am this morning, six gamekeepers from the Balmoral Estate transported Her Late Majesty’s casket.
Before arriving to the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh at 4 p.m., the coffin will pass via Ballater around 10:15 a.m., Aberdeen around 11 a.m., and Dundee around 2 p.m.
The coffin will remain in the Throne Room at the Palace of Holyroodhouse following its arrival there until it is transported to St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh in the afternoon of Monday, September 12.
The King and other Royal Family members will organise a Procession and proceed there to receive the coffin and attend a liturgy in the Cathedral.
Finally, the coffin will be available for viewing by the public in St. Giles’ Cathedral starting at 5 p.m. on Monday so that mourners may pay their respects to the Queen.
