If the King evicts Prince Andrew from his current residence, he may move into his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson’s £5 million mews house.

Andrew’s new digs could be a mews property owned by Fergie in London’s posh Belgravia district.

The property was reportedly purchased by the Duchess of York as a “investment property” for daughters Beatrice and Eugenie.

The late Queen’s second son currently resides at Royal Lodge in Windsor, but the property is known to be high maintenance, and King Charles III may reduce Andrew’s £249,000 allowance in April.

The Queen Mother owned the lodge until her death in 2002, and Andrew has lived there since 2004.

There is also a residence for the Duchess of York.

According to an insider, the King will not leave his brother “homeless or penniless.”

As the monarch prepares for a “slimmed down” royal family, funding for the King’s younger brother could be cut, leading to a tightening of the crown’s purse strings.

A senior royal is said to have joked at a family meeting in December, “We will kick Andrew out of the house.”

The Mirror has reached out to representatives for Prince Andrew for comment.

“It has been finished to a really high standard, but now suddenly everything has gone quiet about moving a tenant in,” an insider told The Sun.

“They want to keep it empty so they can use it. It’s no mansion on the Windsor estate, but it’s their only London property.”

Andrew’s downsizing may continue after he sold his ski chalet in Verbier, Switzerland, for a whopping £19 million.

The sale was made in part to help cover the prince’s mounting legal expenses during the civil case brought against him by Virginia Giuffre.

She claimed she was forced to have sex with Prince Andrew three times when she was 17 in 2001.

Andrew has consistently denied the allegations.

The case was eventually settled for an amount rumoured to be around £9.8 million.
