PEMRA Directs SAMAA TV to Air apology on NAB's complaint

Private TV channel SAMAA TV had earlier landed in hot water as Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority ordered the channel to apologize on NAB’s complaint.

According to details, SAMAA News had allegedly aired baseless and defamatory news reports against chairman NAB. Therefore, the PEMRA council of complaints ordered SAMAA News to apologize to NAB in the same manner and magnitude.

However, the authority warned to take legal action if the channel failed to do so.

According to the official document, NAB had complained against SAMAA Channel in September 2015. The accountability bureau had sought suitable action against the channel under the law for airing unverified, false, and baseless against Chairman NAB.

The document mentioned that several complaints had been lodged against the SAMAA TV because of its attempts to defame the image of NAB by airing incorrect information.
