PEMRA issues show cause notices to Samaa TV on violating ECP’s Code of Conduct for Media

One of Pakistan’s renowned private TV channels SAMAA TV has been issued show-cause notices by Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority on violating ECP’s code of conduct for media.

According to details, PEMRA mentioned in a tweet, “PEMRA issues show-cause notices to Geo News, SAMAA channel and News One on violating ECP’s Code of Conduct for Media.”

The authority also attached the show-cause notice document with the tweet.

The document mentioned that SAMAA TV invited leaders from various political parties as guests during an Election transmission. The authority said that the channel acted in flagrant violation of the Code of Conduct for Media issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan.

CEO of SAMAA TV was directed to appear for personal hearing and appear in writing as well. However, the channel was also warned that the authority would take legal action over non-appearance.
