In another instance where Samaa TV defies all sense of journalistic integrity, the prominent TV network is involved in a case against the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The cricket commentator and former Pakistan cricket team captain, Aamer Sohail made inappropriate and unjustified comments on-air against the Pakistani captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed.
PCB lodged a complaint against the media watchdog PEMRA, short for Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority. In such cases, it is to be known that oftentimes, on-air commentators get too casual and frank about the topic they are discussing. They do not pay heed to the repercussions behind their remarks and do not understand that regardless if the topic is pertaining to sports, there are people behind the sports teams that have to protect their personal reputations and should not be ridiculed publically.
Oftentimes, our Pakistan cricket team is harassed on the media and news channels ignore the fact that there are individual players who are trying their best and working hard for the pride of our country. When players are singled out, through no fault of their own, it causes demotivation and hinders the atmosphere in which sporting events function. Samaa TV commentator Aamer Sohail blamed the team captain for losing against Sri Lanka in the Champions Trophy without paying attention to all the extraneous variables that come into play when involved in sports.
