Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has reportedly discovered new oil and gas reserves in Shah Bandar and Jhim areas of Sindh’s Sujawal district.

PPL announced the exploration of fuel oil and gas reserves through a statement.

The field is said to yield 236 barrels of oil per day, at a wellhead flowing pressure (whfp) of 2,668 psig at 32/64” choke.

The Jhim site East X-1 well was drilled to a depth of 2,545 meters to assess the hydrocarbon potential of the Upper Sand in the Lower Goru Formation.

Pakistan Petroleum reported that the well is currently undergoing further evaluation to gather crucial data on its performance, highlighting that it was drilled and tested utilizing local expertise.

This marks the second discovery of hydrocarbon deposits in the Shah Bandar Block.

PPL underscored the significance of this discovery in augmenting hydrocarbon reserves and addressing the energy sector challenges amid the ongoing energy crisis in Pakistan.

PPL expects that the exploration of this oil and gas deposit will contribute to balancing the production and demand for oil and gas, ultimately saving substantial foreign currency for Pakistan.
