Senior players ignored as PCB releases new central contract
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has released the new central contract for the season 2019-20.
According to the details, senior players ignored as PCB releases new central contract.
Among the list of senior players ignored are Muhammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik as PCB released new central contract.
PCB in its new central contract have kept 18 players. Sarfaraz Ahmad, Babar Azam and Yasir shah has been given A-category.
In B-category, the players include Asad Shafiq, Azhar Ali, Haris Sohail, Imam-ul-Haq, Muhammad Abbas, Shahdab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Wahab Riaz.
In C-category players include Abid Ali, Hassan Ali, Fakhar Zaman, Imad Wasim, Muhammad Amir, Muhammad Rizwan, Shan Masood and Usman Khan Shinwari.
PCB has said that Muhammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik are not given central contract but both players will be available for team selection.
Previously, central contract was given to 33 players in last year’s season.
The new central contract will remain valid from 1 July 19’ till 30 June 2020.
Managing Director Waseem Khan has said that new central contract was drafted based on player’s fitness and upcoming events requirement.
The new central contracts have also increased player wages.
Waseem Khan further said that we have increased the bar for getting central contract next year.
MD PCB also said that we are hopeful that players offered central contract will achieve the bar set in the new central contract.
Previously, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on the recommendations of cricket committee has decided not to extend coach Micky Arthur’s contract.
According to the details, Micky Arthur no more remains Pakistan’s head coach.
PCB has also decided that all the other coaching staff would also not be given contract extensions.
Cricket committee members unanimously decided not to extend the contracts of the coaching staff.
According to sources, PCB will advertise soon for the appointment of the new coaching staff.
