Captain of the national cricket team Sarfraz Ahmed has lauded the decision of appointing Babar Azam as vice-captain.
While talking to the media in Karachi, Sarfraz Ahmed said that during the World Cup, he had a good understanding with Babar Azam.
He further said that Babar Azam will be groomed for captaincy with time. In fact, he often consults Babar and other players whenever he has to take a decision, the Skipper added.
Sarfaraz Ahmed said he also has a good understanding with Misbah-ul-Haq. He said that he has played with Misbah in his captaincy, we will select the best playing team for Pakistan and we will work together, he further stated.
Talking about the World cup the Skipper said that we tried our best but regrettably we just couldn’t get the desired results. He said “I was relaxed with regards to my captaincy when it had ended after the World Cup. I knew that whatever would happen would happen for the good.”
He further added that he believed that communication plays an enormous role in clarifying the things between the Pakistan Cricket Board and the captain.
Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board had announced the captain and vice-captain for the Sri Lanka Series.
According to details, the PCB announced Sarfraz Ahmed as the captain of the national cricket team while Babar Azam has been appointed as the vice-captain of the national cricket team for the Sri Lanka Series.
Sarfraz Ahmed has been leading the national cricket team since 2017 and while led by him, the team has won 4 Tests, 26 one-day and 29 Twenty20 matches.
Babar Azam is on the top in the ICC T20 rankings, third in one-day cricket and 13th best in Test cricket.
The one-day and T20 series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will commence from September 27 to October 9.
