World Snooker Champions seek PM Imran’s support on financial basis
World Snooker Champions from Pakistan Asjad Iqbal and Mohammad Bilal request Prime Minister Imran Khan to support them financially.
In a video message, both the quests, who bagged gold and silver in recently concluded 1st SAARC Snooker Championship in Sri Lanka, asked PM Khan to look after other sports apart from cricket to let players in Pakistan earn bread and butter for their families.
“I had spent the money, which I saved for roof-filling of my house, on my participation in the event. Now, I want some financial support for the construction of my house,” Bilal said.
“We are world champions and recently won yet another title for Pakistan but we didn’t get any support and appreciation from high-ups in the country,” he added.
Asjad, on the other hand, appealed to the government for financial support to return the loan which he took for participating in SAARC event.
“I took the loan to participate in the event. Now, the government should at least help me to return that loan,” Asjad said.
It is pertinent to mention here that Asjad bagged Gold while Bilal won Silver after both the finalist defeated their Indian counterparts in the semi-final of 1st SAARC Snooker Championship in Sri Lanka.
Earlier in July this year, they both led Pakistan to win Gold in the World Team Snooker Cup in Doha.
