FBR issues show cause notice to Muhammad Hafeez
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued a showcase notice to former captain and national team cricketer Muhammad Hafeez for hiding assets.
According to the details, a show cause notice has been issued against Hafeez for hiding assets, the cricketer was being audited for the past five years.
FBR is conducting his audit from 2014 to 2018 and details of Hafeez were sought from all banks.
According to sources, Mohammad Hafeez did not disclose assets worth about Rs 170 million to FBR.
However, he has denied the reports saying that he is a regular taxpayer and has not received any notice from the FBR.
Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan approved an ambitious tax reforms plan that includes launching of nationwide tax assessment and documentation drive along with survey of immovable properties across the country.
The proposed planned nationwide tax assessment and documentation drive will be done in a period of two years.
It has been decided that the said plan would be implemented under the given time frame without any delay.
