PSL 2020: Islamabad united conquers Multan Sultans by 8 wickets

Islamabad United has registered their first victory after defeating and Multan Sultan by eight wickets in the fifth match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on Saturday, February 22, 2020.

Islamabad won the toss and chose to field first. The match began at 7pm local time.

Islamabad United batsmen chased the target of 165-run given by the Multan Sultans.

Munro scored a half-century from 32 balls, smashing four sixes before being clean bowled by Shahid Afridi.

Quetta gladiators beat Islamabad United by 3 wickets in the first match of PSL 2020 on 20th February. The match was held after the grand opening ceremony at the National Stadium Karachi.

Note that Peshawar Zalmi has won the toss and has decided to field first against the defending champion Quetta Gladiators at the national stadium Karachi. The match will begin at 3 pm.

The Government of Pakistan has decided to grant honorary citizenship of Pakistan to Darren Sammy, Peshawar Zalmi skipper.

President Dr. Arif Alvi will honor Darren Sammy with the nationality of Pakistan on March 23.

Darren Sammy will be awarded Pakistan’s highest civilian award and honorary citizenship in March 2020.

Earlier, Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi revealed that his team’s skipper Darren Sammy will soon get the honorary citizenship of Pakistan.

The Saint Lucian cricketer played international matches for West Indies.


He emerged as a celebrity in Pakistan after he started playing Pakistan Super League (PSL).

One of the international players, Sammy, accepted to play in Pakistan when the country came under pressure due to attack on Sri Lankan team.

He is currently in Pakistan to take part in PSL 5.

Javed Afridi revealed that an application for the citizenship of Sammy sent to the table of President Arif Alvi.

He also requested PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani to take up the matter with the president.

“We want honorary citizenship for Darren Sammy and an application in this regard also sent before the President,” said Javed Afridi to Ehsan Mani.
