Pakistan Cricket team opener Shan Masood has become the captain of PSL’s franchise Multan Sultan for the fifth edition.

Multan Sultan announced the decision on Twitter. They said, “Modern cricket demands a captain who is at the top of the list at both physical and mental aspects. No one can second our captain, he is a great athlete.”

On the other hand, Richard Illingworth from England has joined PSL 2020 as an on-field umpire for the opening match. Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United will face each other in the opening match.

Richard Illingworth will work with Faisal Khan Abdi in the opening match.

Roshan Mahanama from Srilanka will be leading the playing control team for the curtain-raiser. Asif Yaqoob will also be joining as the third empire whereas Syed Imtiaz Iqbal will be the fourth empire.

Ranmore Martinesz will also join PSL 2020 in the third match that will be held between Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars. Apart from that, Micheal Gough’s first of the nine matches will be held at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore.

Furthermore, Aleem Dar, a three-time ICC Umpire of the year, will also participate in PSL 5th edition. Aleem will lead 15 umpires who will be working in this tournament.

Five new umpires have been given chance to join the tournament. They are Aslam Breach, Majid Hussain, Nasir Hussain, Saqib Khan, and Syed Imtiaz Iqbal.

Ten umpires have also been selected for the 5th edition. They include Ahsan Raza, Aleem Dar, Asif Yaqoob, Faisal Khan Afridi, Michael Gough, Rashid Riaz, Richard Illingworth, Shozab Raza, Ranmore Martinesz and Tariq Rasheed.
