Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh face backlash in India, Afridi comes out in Support

The controversy had started when former all rounder Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh wrote that he is supporting Shahid Afridi and his foundation to help out the needy affected by COVID-19 pandemic.

He Tweeted “These are testing times, it’s time to lookout for each other specially the ones who are lesser fortunate. Lets do our bit, I am supporting @SAfridiOfficial & @SAFoundationN in this noble initiative of covid19. Pls donate on http://donatekarona.com #StayHome @harbhajan_singh.”

To this Shahid Afridi had responded with a note of thanks for Yuvraj and off spinner Harbhajan Singh. “Thank you for all you support-both yourself & my brother @harbhajan_singh are huge pillars of support; this bond we have shows love & peace transgresses borders when it comes to humanity especially. Best wishes to you with your noble endeavours with @YOUWECAN #DonateKaroNa,” the post read.

Indian cricket fans don’t like the gesture and criticized Yuvraj for his decision to support Shahid Afridi’s foundation.

Earlier, the former left-hander indian cricketer , Harbhajan Singh was also criticized for supporting to Afridi’s NGO.

Yuvraj Singh gave befitting reply to trolls who were trolling him for supporting Shahid Afridi and wrote a note in which he stated “I really don’t understand how a msg to help the most vulnerable gets blown out of proportion! All I tried to achieve via that msg was to help ppl in our respective countries by providing healthcare, my intention was not to hurt anyone’s feelings.”

On the other hand Shahid Afridi also came out in support of Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh, who faced a backlash on social media for supporting his foundation in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic and wrote on Twitter “Very sad to see simple messages of humanity getting misunderstood! We r ambassadors for Love & peace, Truly value the support extended by @YUVSTRONG12 & @harbhajan_singh for coming forward & urging people to #DonateKaroNa #HumanitybeyondBorders.”
