Cricket board to suspend drug charged player’s contract

Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) is going to decide the fate of the drug-charged player Shehan Madushanka. Sri Lanka cricket is planning to suspend Shehan’s contract.

According to details, Sri Lanka Cricket Board is planning to cancel the contract as Shehan Madushanka was arrested for possessing two grams of heroin when he was caught in the town on Pannala. He was arrested on 23rd May.  

SLC CEO Ashley de Silva said, “We have not been officially informed on this yet. He is a contracted player. We will take action to suspend his contract if he carries a drug charge.” 

This was the first time a player was remanded over a drug charge. He was ordered to face remand till June 2 by the magistrate at Kuliyapitiya in the north-western province.
