A Turkish footballer Cevher Toktas has allegedly killed his five-year-old son because he “didn’t love him”.
Cevher Toktas, 32 has confessed to the police 11 days after son Kasim died.
Toktas had brought the child to the hospital on April 23. According to local media, Kasim had a high fever and breathing difficulties. As the hospital feared the illness is a coronavirus, the boy and his father were quarantined.
However, the youngest was later taken to the Intensive Care Unit. He then died in less than two hours in Turkey.
The child was buried the next day.
However, Toktas later confessed to the police that he murdered his son with the pillow when they were alone in the room.
He said, “I pressed a pillow on my son who was lying on his back. For 15 minutes, I pressed down on the pillow without lifting it up. My son was struggling during that time. After he stopped moving, I lifted the pillow. Then I yelled for doctors to help to draw any suspicions away from me,”
“I never loved my younger son after he was born. I don’t know why I don’t love him. The sole reason why I killed him that day is because I didn’t like him. I don’t have any mental issues,”
Toktas was later arrested and will be put on trial.
