Pakistan’s T20I captain Babar Azam has said that he has a dream to perform like his Indian counterpart Virat Kohli.
“He (Kohli) is one of the best players in the world whereas I have a lot to achieve at this moment,” Babar said in a conversation with Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle. “I want to be a player like him and win matches for my country.”
The batsman said sub-continent players can have similar batting styles and agreed that is the case with him and Kohli too. “We both have similarities but I try to do something different.”
He went on to say that he likes to keep checking how the likes of Kohli and Australia’s Steve Smith are performing.
“I track their performances in different conditions. Don’t play so that my name is taken with those prolific players. I just want to make myself, the fans and the team happy.”
Babar Azam further added that he is never satisfied with his performances. “I always think about the mistakes that I made and how to work on it and never tend to show off. I just look at the top five rankings and hope to stay there.”
He says that he does not use social media during foreign tours as it increases pressure on him and makes him think negatively.
