West Indies all-rounder and megastar Dwayne ‘DJ’ Bravo has become the first bowler ever to take 500 wickets in the popular T20 format of the game of cricket.
14 years later after his debut in the format Bravo, playing for Trinbago Knight Riders, took the wicket of St Lucia Zouks opener Rahkeem Cornwall to officially become the first bowler to 500 T20 wickets.
“First of all thanks to the almighty God for allowing me to be the first. I want to say thanks to all my team-mates. Thanks to all the teams that I play for around the world. To be able to achieve that right here at home…this is where I started playing cricket you know? At age 8. It’s where it all started for me and I can’t be a happier [sic] person to get that 500 here at the Queen’s Park Oval. “Bravo said during a touchline interview.
Bravo also holds the record for being the first bowler to 300 and 400 T20 wickets in 2104 and 2017 respectively. Bravo was the top wicket-taker in 2015 with 69 wickets and also in 2016 with 87 wickets to his name.
Bravo has amongst the most colorful careers in T20 cricket as the 36-year-old has played for as many as 23 teams including the West Indies national side.
