Punjab Hockey Association (PHA) banned Olympian Naveed Alam for 10 years for his involvement in anti-hockey activities.
PHA’s secretary Colonel (R) Asif Naz Khokhar said Naveed was involved in making groups against PHA. “Naveed was involved in anti-hockey activities for years now. We have decided to ban him for 10 years in the executive committee’s meeting on August 17,” he said. “During this period, he cannot take part in any hockey activities,” he maintained.
In reply, Naveed expressed disappointment over the ban and said he will fight against PHA and Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) at every platform.
“Everyone knows about corruption in hockey associations and federation. These people have looted hockey for years and now they are sidelining people who are highlighting their wrongdoings. I will fight against them at every platform,” he said.
Furthermore, Naveed has the right to appeal against the ban before PHF’s president Brig (R) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar.
