The World No 1, Serbian Tennis Star Novak Djokovic secured a close win against Pablo Carreño Busta French Open 2020 but he continues to battle for his fitness.

Although he is still in the tournament, however, the world No 1 ignored nagging pain to beat his opponent. Novak Djokovic ignored nagging pain in his upper left arm and his neck as he scribbled together a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 win in 3hr 10min on Court Philippe Chatrier.

The physiotherapist massaged Djokovic’s arm during the break and the player told him: “It feels better now.”

Don’t want to reveal too much

He looked physically mess in the first set. But speaking about his pain he said “I had some neck and shoulder issues. I’m still in the tournament, so I don’t want to reveal too much. I’m feeling OK. As the match progressed, I warmed up and the pain faded away. It allowed me to play better and feel better.”

“I definitely didn’t feel great on the court for an hour, hour and a half. I definitely didn’t feel great coming into the court today.

“A few things happened in the warmup. I had to deal with those physical issues coming onto the court.”

“As the pain went on, I felt much better. I didn’t feel as much pain.” He added. “But, you know, I don’t want to take away anything from his good performance. Especially for a set and a half, he was the better player, dictating the play.

“I was very neutral. I didn’t have much energy really happening in my legs or movement or the game itself. It took me about a set and a half to get comfortable and start really playing the way I should.
