Southern Punjab’s batsman Khushdil Shah got himself in the record books on Friday night by smashing the fastest T20 century by a Pakistani batsman.

The 25-year-old batsman reached the three-figure score in just 35 balls – the fastest by a Pakistani and jointly the 5th fastest T20 century by any batsman in the world.

Shah smashed nine shots over the fence and smashed 8 fours on his way to the century as his ton helped his side turn the tables and recover from the score of 43-4.

He surpassed Ahmad Shahzad who had previously held the record of the fastest T20 century by a Pakistani.

Shahzad had scored his hundred in 40 balls during a Bangladesh Premier League game in 2012.

The 35-ball hundred by Khushdil is also the 5th fastest overall by any batsman in the world. He is behind only Chris Gayle (30), Rishab Pant (32) Wihan Lubbe (33) and Andrew Symonds (34).

India’s Rohit Sharma and South Africa’s David Miller both scored centuries in 35 balls each. Both of them scored centuries in International T20s.

Shah’s innings ended the very next ball after completing his hundred.
