Lewis Hamilton to miss Sakhir Grand Prix after testing positive for COVID-19

Wishes of speedy recovery poured in for Brit Racer Lewis Hamilton after he got tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

According to the details, after winning the Bahrain Grand Prix on Sunday, he woke up the next morning with mild symptoms and was informed that contact from before his arrival in Bahrain had tested positive. He took a further test and returned a positive result.

He will skip the Sakhir Grand Prix in Bahrain after the Formula 1 after his result came positive.

Hamilton, who drives for Mercedes, is now isolating in accordance with Covid-19 protocols and public health guidelines in Bahrain.

The Mercedes team said that the driver had taken a test after being informed of the situation.

“Lewis, therefore, took a further test and returned a positive result. This has since been confirmed by a retest,” said the statement.

The statement said that the Lewis was now in isolation, adding that apart from showing mild symptoms the driver was “fit and well”.

He won the Turkish Grand Prix and equaled Michael Schumacher’s record of seven Formula One championships.
