The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is unlikely to take part in Asia cup 2021 due to its jam packed cricket calendar, Thus, India V Pakistan clash for the year 2021 is in crisis.

According to the media reports, the Indian side is keen on pulling out of the tournament which means that there will be no high voltage clash between in Indian and Pakistan this year. India last met Pakistan at the Old Trafford Stadium in the 2019 World Cup.

Due to the ongoing novel coronavirus pandemic, several marquee series were postponed last year. To accommodate the marquee bilateral series in the year 2021, the BCCI is reportedly contemplating to pull out of the forthcoming Asia Cup.

It should be noted that the hosts for the Asia Cup 2020, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), had exchanged hosting rights for the tournament with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). Through this arrangement, the SLC will now host the rescheduled Asia Cup expected in June 2021 while the PCB will host the Asia Cup 2022.

So far, India have played against Pakistan on 14 occasions in Asia Cup since 1984, winning eight and losing five, while one match was washed out.
