The notorious Conor McGregor was knocked out in the second round of his fight with Dustin Poirier at UFC 257.
According to the media reports, McGregor was blasted away by Poirier in their rematch on Fight Island.
Round 1 of the match:
McGregor races from his side and beings shooting left hands one after another. Poirier times him well and lands a flush counter right.
A nice shoulder strike by Poirier lands and they’re wrapped up in close quarters along the cage. Another nice shoulder strike by Poirier, followed by a sharp knee to the body by McGregor.
Then another. Then another. They’ve been clinched for about a minute now, exchanging shoulder strikes, and now McGregor has reversed their position so it’s Poirier up against the cage.
Round 2 of the match:
Dustin Poirier continues to hit McGregor’s leg from distance and the leg appears dead. Poirier is getting a lot more confident boxing from this distance. Poirier attacked lead right leg, before trapping McGregor on the cage and unleashing back to back punches.

Poirier took his chance to exact revenge after their UFC 178 meeting.
“We know Conor McGregor is one of the best counter-punchers in the game,” said Poirier after the match.
He added that “Conor has taken the result very professionally, we are one and one now so maybe we do it again.”
“It’s hard to overcome inactivity over long periods of time,” McGregor says. “That’s just it. I just wasn’t as comfortable as i needed to be. … I have to dust it off and come back and that’s it and that’s what I will do.”
